Workforce Overview

Education

Eastern Idaho’s workforce is young, with higher-than-average education levels. According to recent surveys, 80% of the area’s working-age residents have post-secondary education, while 34% have a four-year degree or more advanced education. The workforce is technology-oriented, with the largest concentration of technical professionals in the northern Rockies.

Labor Policies

Idaho is a pro-business environment and a "right-to-work" state, which means employees can individually choose whether or not to belong to a union. The state also follows an "employment-at-will" doctrine, meaning employment relationships have no set length and can be ended at any time by either party, with or without notice or cause.

The estimated median household income for the Idaho Falls metropolitan area is around $47K per year. Per capita income averages around $20K, including all adults and children. (Source: Sperling’s BestPlaces)
