Idaho Falls Regional Airport (IDA) is served by five airlines: Delta (Skywest), United, Allegiant, Northwest, and Horizon, with direct daily flights to Salt Lake City, Denver, Minneapolis, and Boise, and weekly flights to Las Vegas. The modern facility (terminal remodeled in 2002, runway rebuilt in 2008) also accommodates overnight freight services, business and charter jets, medical flights, and visiting aircraft too large for runways at the nearby resorts of Jackson Hole and Sun Valley (e.g., Air Force One).

For business requiring rail access, freight services are provided by the Union Pacific and the Eastern Idaho Railroad. The EIRR is one of the largest single shortline spin-offs in U.P. history, carrying a wide variety of products in its near 35,000 annual car-load capacity.

Eastern Idaho has some of the lowest electricity rates in the nation due to foward-thinking residents and abundant hydroelectric generation facilities along the Snake River. The city's namesake Falls feeds one of three small power generation facilities operated by the city-owned Idaho Falls Power. The area also boasts of growing bio-fuel and wind power industries that benefit from abundant renewable natural resources as well as the presence of the Department of Energy's Idaho National Laboratory.
