Tourism and Gateway Community Services

Idaho Falls is only 100 miles from Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park, and Craters of the Moon National Monument. The Jackson Hole and Sun Valley resort communities are nearby for an easy day or weekend trip. Also nearby are twelve wilderness areas, eleven national forests, eight ski areas (Grand Targhee, Jackson Hole, Sun Valley and Big Sky, to name just a few), as well as dozens of trout streams. The hunting is legendary, the hiking, climbing, and kayaking are beyond words. With such abundant recreation, we have an incredibly profitable industry based on tourism. This includes hospitality-based businesses, recreational equipment manufacturers, and all the attendant services required to meet the needs of the millions who pass through the region each year.
